Tips & Tricks for Crockpot Chicken Recipe
Here are helpful ideas for making the perfect lemon garlic crockpot chicken breast, considering both alternative ingredients and different skill levels:
- You can use water if you don’t have or are low on chicken broth. The chicken broth will add more flavor, but water will work in a pinch.
- While this recipe calls for fresh chicken, you can use frozen chicken if needed. That’s the beauty of a crockpot! Simply increase the cooking time to account for the frozen instead of thawed chicken.
- You can use dried herbs if you don’t have fresh rosemary and thyme. You’ll need to use less, as dried herbs are more potent than fresh. I would start with ¼ teaspoon of each and adjust from there.
- If you’re a beginner, I recommend cooking the chicken on high for 4 hours, then checking it. Chicken cook time can vary based on the size and pieces of your chicken and your crockpot.
- You can also use an Instant Pot to make this recipe; follow the directions until step 6, then cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
- If you want to add even more flavor to this recipe, try basting the chicken with the juices from the crockpot every few hours.
- If you don’t mind adding an additional step, pan-frying the chicken first will give it a nice, crispy skin. Make sure to remove the skin before adding the chicken to the crockpot.
- I like chicken breast meals because they’re leaner and healthier, but you can make crock pot chicken thighs if you want to amplify the meaty flavor.
- Cooked chicken will last in the fridge for 3-4 days or in the freezer for 2-6 months. Make sure to store it appropriately, depending on whether you plan on keeping it in the fridge or freezer.
