Filipino Cheese Rolls
- 240 ml Milk, lukewarm
- 50 grams Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Active dry yeast
- 390 grams All-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoons Salt
- 226 grams Package of cream cheese, softened
- 50 grams Sugar
- ¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract
- Combine the milk, yeast, and sugar in a medium-to-large bowl and stir until the yeast has dissolved.
- Add the flour and salt to the bowl and stir until everything is combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a surface covered in flour and knead for around 10 minutes or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and allow it to rise for around an hour until it doubles in size.
- While this dough rises, start the filling by combining the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla in a medium bowl and stirring until smooth.
- Once the dough doubles in size, turn it onto a floured surface and roll it into a 12-inch (30-cm) square.
- Spread the filling evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch (2.5-cm) border.
- Roll the dough up from one of the long sides, jelly roll style, and cut it into 12-16 pieces.
- Place the rolls, cut side up, on a greased baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
