Ingredients

  • 4 Tortilla wrap (or lettuce wrap for a keto variation)
  • 2 Grilled chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Cheese or other non-dairy toppings if you’re dairy intolerant

Instructions

Step 1: Bake or Air Fry chicken breast

  • The first step to making the perfect grilled chicken wrap is to bake or air fry the chicken breast. If baking, bake with a light drizzle of olive oil.
  • Set the oven to about 375 degrees and bake for 20 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
  • If you air fry the chicken, simply rub the chicken in olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and then cook at 350 degrees for 25-25 minutes.

Step 2: Cut the chicken

  • After the chicken is fully cooked, slice the chicken into ⅓ inch thick slices.

Step 3: Assemble the Wrap

  • Choose the tortilla type of your choice and lay the chicken strips on one half of the tortilla.
  • On the same half as the chicken, sprinkle cheese and any other toppings (lettuce, tomato, veggies, etc).

Step 4: Roll the wrap

  • While folding in the sides of the tortilla gently wrap your fingers around the top of the tortilla, pushing the contents of the wrap to the back of the wrap.
  • Roll the tortilla until it is closed like a burrito.

Step 5: Cut and Enjoy

  • After the tortilla is fully enclosed, take a knife and cut the wrap in half on an angle.
  • Plate the wrap and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for Making Grilled Chicken Wraps

Some tips and tricks for making the best-grilled chicken wraps include using wraps big enough to properly fit the chicken and toppings. A 10-inch wrap will work, but I would recommend at least a 12-inch wrap in order to be sure the toppings all securely fit.

Another tip is to make sure you let the chicken cool for at least 5-10 minutes before adding cheese or veggies to the wrap. If the chicken is too hot it will melt the cheese and warm up the crisp, cool veggies.

You can also make substitutions for any of the ingredients you may not be tolerant of or may not like.

Common Ingredient Substitutions

Below are some viable substitutions for the common ingredients used in grilled chicken wraps.

Grilled chicken

If you prefer fried chicken, you can always substitute grilled chicken for a breaded-chicken breast. Also, if you’re vegetarian, tofu or beans would be used instead of chicken.

Tortilla Wrap

If you’re on a keto diet or low-carb diet, you could substitute the tortilla wrap with a lettuce wrap instead. Another really fun new item that recently hit the shelves are cheese wraps. Use a cheese wrap for a higher protein, lower-carb option instead.

Cheese

Cheese is one of the most popular toppings for a grilled chicken wrap, but you can add any type of topping you like to your wrap. Sharp cheddar and feta are two of my own favorite types of cheeses to add to a grilled chicken wrap, but any cheese will do!

Lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise, and tomatoes are all yummy flavors to add to the wrap, too, if cheese isn’t your favorite topping.

Veggies

The most common types of veggies added to a grilled chicken wrap are tomatoes, lettuce and pickles however some people like to use other types of veggies instead. Black or green olives taste great in a wrap, as well as sweet peppers and onions. You can also sautee the peppers and onions in butter to create a crunchy and savory flavor to your grilled chicken wrap.

Nutrition in a Grilled Chicken Wrap

Grilled chicken wraps are a nutritious snack for lunch or dinner. In one serving of a grilled chicken wrap, you get all three macronutrients, carbs, protein, and fat, as well as vitamins and minerals.

If you use a standard 6-ounce chicken breast, you’re getting a whopping 52 grams of protein. Chicken breast also has about 6 grams of fat which is essential for healthy organs and tissues, but not in excessive amounts. Chicken breast is a lean protein, so the total amount of fat it boasts is perfect for a balanced diet.

The tortilla shell gives you the carbohydrates your body needs for fuel. For example, one 10-inch flour tortilla shell has 32 grams of carbs, 6 grams of protein, and 6 grams of fat, with a total calorie content of about 200 kcal.

Finally, add veggies such as tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles. The grilled chicken wrap will also provide your body with vitamins and minerals. Tomatoes are high in vitamin C and vitamin B6. At the same time, lettuce and pickles have a high water content, perfect for weight loss aid.
